We’re fully into the winter cycling season in the U.S., which means that we’re doing most of our riding indoors. While that used to be torturous — no one likes spinning while they’re staring at a blank wall — it’s a whole different ballgame now.
The newer platforms have transformed what used to be an onerous task into something we can actually look forward to doing. So today I wanted to find out what you primarily use for your indoor cycling workouts. Here are the options.
For myself, I most often use a combination of Zwift and TrainerRoad. As you may know, TrainerRoad doesn’t integrate with Zwift at present, in the way Training Peaks does. But there’s a workaround, detailed by the indispensable D.C. Rainmaker.
I sometimes put on a movie or T.V. show if I’m doing a recovery ride or easy spinning, but anything harder than that requires the kind of concentration that passively watching a show doesn’t permit.
BTW, I’ve listed only some of the most popular platforms here. There are numerous others. If you’re a fan of something like ROUVY, FulGaz or another platform, let me know in the comments!
(P.S. I did a long-ish comparison of Zwift and Peloton, if you’re wondering about those options.)
I create and load workouts directly to Wahoo ROAM. I put on a podcast or a video stream.
I love it.
The rides are actual video recordings mostly in Europe.
They are quite realistic.
The app came with my Tacx trainer and it is backed by Garmin.
