Oldpocalypse: The YouTube Channel Has Launched!
I mentioned previously that I branched out from my cycling content, creating a wider focus that also included cycling. That site is Oldpocalypse.
Now I’ve branched out again: Not content-wise, but platform-wise. I’ve started a YouTube channel: YouTube.com/@oldpocalypse.
There will be plenty of cycling content on the YouTube channel, but also a lot of content around aging and the challenges and rewards that come with it (and yes, there are rewards!)
My wife Kathy and I will focus on news, inspiration, advice, and meditations on getting older—but in video format (obviously). My mission for serving those of us on the wrong side of the speed limit hasn’t changed at all. I’ve just broadened my outreach.
Consider that there are more than 2 billion monthly users of YouTube. That’s even larger than my readership here. It’s a big number, and many of those people can use the kind of content I want to create. At least that’s my hope. We’ll find out.
These are both long-term plays. I plan on doing Oldpocalypse for many years—hopefully until I die, if I can manage it. I think it’s crucial to have goals and things that make us do work as we get older. That keeps us feeling and thinking young. Oldpocalypse will be a key part of doing that for Kathy and me.
So please check it out: YouTube.com/@oldpocalypse, or just go to YouTube and type in “Oldpocalypse”. It’ll come up.
The site is brand new, and there’s only a few videos up. But I’m adding content as fast as I can, and I’d love to have you join me over there as well, so we can build the sort of community that’ll serve all of us.
And remember that Oldpocalypse on Substack is here. The articles haven’t been refreshed lately, but once the YT site has a decent amount of content, I’ll be returning to the newsletter.
Thanks to all of you who’ve been with me through these evolutions. It’s taken awhile to find my niche, but at long last I have. I sincerely hope to make you feel welcome in both places.
