The 'Diabetic Cyclist' YouTube Channel is Live!
The Diabetic Cyclist now has a YouTube channel! We’ve been working on this for quite some time now, and it’s finally going.
There are just a few videos up as of this writing (Oct. 2021), but that’s OK. This is a marathon, and we’ve just taken the first step.
The channel will feature both cycling and diabetes content, but have a broader appeal as a general health channel as well. That makes sense, as it’s all heath related in the end—riding makes you healthier, as does eating right, watching carbs (for diabetics), and knowing your health status.
The site will feature ride videos of me rolling through the countryside, as well as weekly health tips from my lovely wife, Dr. Kathy. We’ll also have other regular features on various topics. I’m excited about all the great content we’ll have on this site!
The Intersection of Cycling and Diabetes
Kathy recorded a video explaining diabetes at a high level. I just posted a video going through my diabetic journey. And more is coming soon—I just completed the Seagull Century event, and will have a video up about my experience there.
My hope is that the YouTube channel will encourage viewers to change their lives through better diets and regular exercise. I’ve lost 40 pounds over the last three-plus years, and have kept the weight off. That’s the key—as you may be aware, most people who lose a lot of weight through a diet gain it back quickly, and often get heavier.
That hasn’t happened to me, and I’d like to share my continuing journey with you. Kathy is also eager to help viewers with diabetes-specific health information as well as general health content, as mentioned. Together, I think we have a strong combination of exercise and health information that will become a valuable resource for improving lives.
It’s a lot of work, especially since we both have demanding full-time jobs, but this is definitely a labor of love, and we’re looking forward to this new adventure. We hope you come along with us!
